Fish Outta Water is a whacky and wonderful part-jam session, part-biographical narrative. More appropriately, lets call it the life story jam session.
Ron Litman is the microphone and Tom Pile is the co-conspirating accompaniment. They’ve worked together and known each other for forty years and it definitely shows. Little details – like synchronized movements that weren’t really necessary made a big professional difference, and was the give-away. These guys were really in synch. The Fish established that his Water is Washington DC and the like in his potent opening Andrew Dice Clay-esque song and act. From there, he moved to the “genitals of the beast “ – LA. But when his ex-wife and kids moved to Lacrosse, Wisconsin – he was forced to follow and that’s where all the trouble began.
Litman does a nice take on Walter Brennan – who acts as his guide in this scary and hostile foreign land. Through Oktoberfest, Synagogue services, and hunter friends – Litman sings his heart out, tells us his tale and, most importantly, makes us laugh. I marvel at acts like this. I wish I had the Chutzpah, but I’ll just have to live vicariously through enlivening shows like this one. I admire, respect and enjoy the uniqueness of each. So, if your looking for great entertainment – check out this Fish.
